Jiang Sihong: Pioneering Healthcare Transformation in West Africa

As the President of the Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWAA), Jiang Sihong is at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare delivery across the West African sub-region. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to integrating advanced technologies and fostering international collaborations to address pressing healthcare challenges.

Under her guidance, HCOWAA has embarked on several initiatives aimed at modernizing healthcare infrastructure and services. In August 2024, HCOWAA signed Memorandums of Understanding with approximately 25 hospitals and clinics, including notable institutions like Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Achimota Hospital. This collaboration focuses on upgrading medical facilities and ensuring that healthcare providers have access to the latest technologies and best practices.

Recognizing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming healthcare, Jiang has been a vocal advocate for its integration into health systems. At the 2025 West Africa Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Summit and Conference in Accra, she highlighted the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in the region and emphasized that AI could bridge this gap by enhancing diagnostics, treatment, and patient management. She stated, "The integration of AI into health systems presents an unparalleled opportunity to bridge the gaps in the shortage of specialized and senior healthcare professionals, enhance efficiency, and deliver specialized care at scale."

Jiang's vision extends beyond technology; she is dedicated to fostering partnerships that drive sustainable healthcare improvements. In collaboration with the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, HCOWAA co-hosted the 2024 West Africa Medical Industry Investment Summit and Expo. This event served as a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and healthcare professionals to explore investment opportunities and innovations in the medical sector, aiming to enhance healthcare delivery and address disparities in the region.
