The Health Community of West Africa (HCOWA) Association has been officially launched in a ceremony that combined purpose with promise. The event, marked a significant milestone in the healthcare landscape of Ghana, bringing together key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

The Master of Ceremonies (MC) initiated the program by inviting Ms. Gloria Addo to outline the purpose of the gathering. Ms. Addo emphasized that creation of the HCOWA Association, is to build a network of key stakeholders that will foster mutual collaborations within the health industry in Africa.

Present at the event were distinguished guests such as the Chairman of the Ghana Pharmacy Council, the CEO of the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, lieutenant Colonel Kennel Ocran, staff of Essence Laboratory and the management team of Hcowa Ghana. Their presence underscored the event’s importance.

On the formal Launch of the Association, the CEO of HCOWA Anna Jiang explained that the vision of the newly formed Hcowa Association is equally ambitious such that by bringing together key stakeholders in the health industry the organization will achieve its objective of improving healthcare delivery in Africa. Also, that by focusing on the provision of medical equipment and resources, association aims to significantly improve the access to equipment that will enhance healthcare in Ghana. This vision aligns with the broader goals of HCOWA, which seeks to be a driving force in enhancing the quality of healthcare across the nation.

Following the CEO’s address, Mr. Merhack Commey provided a brief overview of the Essence Medical Laboratory, further illustrating its role within Hcowa’s framework. The Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Pharmacy, Pharm. Harrison Abutiat in his address extended warm greetings on behalf of the Chamber while highlighting its efforts to collaborate with HCOWA in launching key initiatives that will improve the healthcare across Ghana.

In the concluding remarks, the CEO of Hcowa expressed her gratitude to the various guests for their participation and support. Her speech underscored the collective effort required to achieve the association’s goals, and his thanks resonated with a commitment to future collaboration.

The event took place at Essence Laboratory, a facility developed to enhance the health laboratory sector by providing essential support to the health lab sector, ensuring that healthcare providers have access to the best tools and technologies available. Its creation is a testament to Hcowa’s commitment to supporting and advancing healthcare in Ghana.

After the launch, the guests led by the CEO and staff of Essence Laboratory went on a tour on the facility.

One of the key initiatives mentioned was the Pharma Park, a project designed to support young pharmacists who lack the resources to establish their own factories. This initiative, alongside the Hcowa Expo Summit, was highlighted as a valuable opportunity to enhance the quality of healthcare in Ghana.

The launch of the Hcowa Association marks the beginning of a new chapter in Ghana’s medical sector, with a clear focus on innovation, collaboration, and improvement. As the association moves forward, it promises to be a pivotal force in the ongoing effort to provide quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.
